Botanical Textures, Simple Arches, Friendship Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I found today's card on Pinterest. You can see it here. I did change it just a little out of necessity. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock, it opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Botanical Textures" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the front of the card.

The Basic Black piece was cut at 2" x 4" and the Basic White piece was cut at 2"' x 3".  There is an embossing folder to texture them but I don't have it but I still had my paper crimper so I got the same effect. I glued the Basic Black piece down first and then the Basic White one on top.

I tied a black Baker's Twine bow and set it on top of the Basic White piece.

The words are from the "Simple Arches" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a piece of Smoky Slate card stock. I cut them out using the smallest die from the "Deckled Rectangles" set. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on top of the twine bow.

I used a sequin from the "Itty Bitty Bokeh Mix" container. I glued it in place and the card was done.

I love how quick and easy this card was to make but what I really liked is that the crimped paper is back in "style".

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's friendship card,

Unbounded Love, Wildflower Birthday, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today my card was made using March's calendar page. I just cut off the upper part of the calendar page and layered it to make a quick and easy card. Doing this makes me want to put a lot more thought and work into future pages so I can reuse them and make a card the following month. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

My calendar page can be found by clicking here. I had fussy cut the flowers and leaves from the "Wildflower Birthday" Designer Series Paper (DSP) 12" x 12" package. When I removed it from the calendar page the size ended up being 2-1/8" x 3". The Old Olive layer behind it measures 2-3/8" x 3-1/4".  I added Dimensionals to the back and set it aside.

The base of this card is a folded half-sheet of basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Old Olive card stock for the layer. I cut the scalloped oval from the center of that layer. It's from the "Unbounded Love" bundle. I also cut a Basic White oval while I had the die out. I set the pieces aside.

Next I took a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White card stock and I textured it using the "Distressed Tile" embossing folder. I glued it to the Old Olive layer and then I taped that to the card base.

I stamped the words from the "Unbounded Love" bundle using black Memento ink. I stamped them on the center of the white scalloped oval. I cut the scalloped edge off the Basic White piece and taped the words to the center of the Old Olive scalloped oval piece.

The floral layered piece was set in place on the upper right side of the card and the word piece was placed below it. I was careful to only add Dimensionals to the areas that would be touching the textured layer.

And that was it, the card was done. It was such a quick and easy card to make when most of the work was already done. It's just nice to not toss the calendar page in recycling. It's like getting a calendar page and then later a fun card!  I like my April page and can't wait to make a card using it. I will be on the lookout for a fun layout to make it more special.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Unbounded Love, Botanical Texture, Unbounded Love, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a monochromatic card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic Black card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut two 4" x 5-1/4"pieces of Basic White card stock. One I taped to the inside and the other I textured using the "Exposed Brick" embossing folder. This is one of my go to folders. It works for male or female cards. I glued it to the front of the card.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the "Botanical Texture" 12" x 12" package. I cut it at 3-1/2" x 2". My thought while cutting it was, "you'll never use up that package cutting pieces this small."  LOL I cut a Basic Black layer that measured 3-3/4" x 2-1/4". I taped the DSP to the Basic Black piece.  I glued this to the card base about 1/4" from the top, left, and bottom edge.

Next I cut a Basic White piece that measured 3-3/4" x 2-3/4" and I stamped the words from the "Unbounded Love" bundle using black Memento ink.  I taped it to a 4" x 3" piece of Basic Black.

The floral/fern die is from the "Textured Floral" bundle and was cut using Basic Black card stock. I glued it to the Basic White piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place 3/8" from the right side and about 5/8" from the top and bottom. I usually just eye it.

I colored some enamel dots using my Basic Black Blends pen and affixed them to the bottom left of the greetings layer. And the card was done.

This was a very quick and easy card to make. I hope to make more cards using the "Botanical Texture" DSP and hopefully larger pieces! LOL

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Birthday card,

Storybook Moment's, Mother's Day Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a Mother's Day card to share with you. I thought I'd get the jump on my card for May. I like to be ahead of the game. I do need a birthday card for the end of April and I will be working on that this week so I will be so ahead of the game. What a great feeling that is! Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Storybook Moments" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the card base.

Next I cut the ducks from a sheet that has 11 other images on it. I thought this image was so cute. It measures 4" x 3" and the Basic White layer behind it is cut at 4-1/4" x 3-1/4".  I taped the layers together. Dimensionals were added to the back and the piece was set in place on the front of the card to the lower left. It's about 3/8" from the bottom and left edge.

I couldn't find any Mother's Day words in my sets so I printed them out on my computer. I used the R(red)  G(green) B(blue) code for Lost Lagoon. That code is R105, G159, B156. I cut them out using the die from the "Everyday Details" set. And the Lost Lagoon layer behind it was cut using the 4th largest die in the "Stylish Shapes" set. I taped the layers together and then set the piece in place using Dimensionals. I did double up on one Dimensional where the circle hung over the duck image. It's at the top of the circle.  And that was it.

This was a super quick and easy card to make. It's too bad there wasn't a full sheet of this image, it would be fun to make a bunch of quick cards using it!

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Mother's Day card,

Storybook Friends, Playing in the Rain, Easter Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I was looking over the "Last Chance" list today. The "Playing in the Rain" set. I love this little bunny, so I had to play with it today. Bunnies are associated with Easter so I thought I'd make him into an Easter card. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Daffodil Delight card stock. On top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Floral Delight" 12" x 12" package (which is on the last chance list too). I taped the DSP to the Daffodil Delight piece and then that was taped to the card stock.

The second largest circle in the "Stylish Shapes" set was cut on a piece of Basic White card stock. I scrubbed on some Petal Pink ink using a blending brush.

The bunny is from the "Playing in the Rain" set and was stamped using black Memento ink. I colored it in using Blends pens. I used Daffodil Delight. Lemon Lolly and Petal Pink. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the circle.

I stamped the words from the "Storybook Friends" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink. I cut them out using the die from the "Stylish Shapes" set. Dimensionals were added to the back.

I laid the circle and the word piece on the front of the card for placement. I moved them around until I liked where they were and set them in place. I added some flowers from the "Loose Daisy" embellishments container. I still have some left and I'm sure I'll be using them on a few more cards until they are gone. I did a good job using the amount I did!

This was a fun and quick card to make.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and taking a look at today's Easter card,

Playing in the Rain, Rain or Shine, April Calendar Page, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have my April calendar page to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

I got my calendars from Lynette's blog. You can find it just below the title of her blog. But don't stop there, take a look at all of her fun cards and different layouts! She is a fellow Minnesotan and I hope to meet her in person someday! Please read on to see how I made my calendar page, it's pretty simple.

After printing the calendar should be cut at 3-1/2" x 5".  Mine is a bit shy of that because my printer didn't print out exactly what I had downloaded. I have no idea why but I had printed all the months and cut them so mine measure 3-3/8" x 4-1/8".

I had no idea what I was going to put on my calendar. It's spring time so something in that area. April showers came to mind so instead of spring flowers I thought I'd go with something with rain.

I remembered the "Playing in the Rain" set so I took it off the shelf and what was on the inside? This bunny from a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Rain or Shine" 12" x 12" package (retired). I fussy cut him out and added Dimensionals to the back.

Now for the layer. The last 3 months I had made a layer for the upper part of the calendar. But since the bunny was so large I decided to just take some Balmy Blue ink and scrub it on over the upper area. I set the bunny in place and then using my chalk marker I added some white raindrops. They didn't show up so well so I colored over them a couple more times and then they were more visible. And that was it. Such a super quick and easy calendar page. I'll probably save the flower idea for May because April showers bring May flowers, right?

I'll be cutting the top off March's calendar and using it on a future card! Can't let my work go to waste now can I? There's always a way to use it for a fun card!

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's calendar page,

Storybook Moments, Storybook Friends, Easter Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have an Easter card to share with you. I found it on Pinterest but I did change it a little. I just couldn't see tossing out that piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that I cut off. Plus I cut my larger piece smaller than on the original card. I found the card here.  Please read on to see how the card was made.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the bottom and the fold is on the top.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of DSP from the "Storybook Memories" 12" x 12" package. I taped it to the card base.

Next I cut a piece of Crumb Cake to measure 3-3/4" x 5". I stamped the bunny on it from the "Storybook Friends" bundle using Crumb Cake ink. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on top of the DSP.

The smaller pieces of DSP are from the same package. There's a full sheet of different designs to cut out and this was one of them. My pieces measure 1-3/4" x 2-3/4" and 1-1/4' x 2-1/4". I moved them around on the front of the card until I thought they looked the best and then I glued them together at the upper center tips. The circle was cut using the third largest one in the "Stylish Shapes" die set. I cut it out using Basic White card stock and then I scrubbed on some Calypso Coral ink because I thought it was just too bright. I set the circle on top of the cut pieces of DSP and then taped it in place. Dimensionals were added to the three joined pieces and it was set in place on the front of the card.

The adorable bunny is from the "Storybook Moments" 12" x 12" package of DSP. There are two sheets of pop-out pieces. The bunny and the butterfly are from those sheets. I thought the sheets could have used a few more butterflies. They are so cute and fun to use on a lot of my cards but I have to pick and choose because of the limited number of them. On the brighter side, I used them up! Now how often can I say I actually used up something? The bunny and butterfly were set in place using Dimensionals.

The words are from the same "Storybook Friends" bundle and were stamped using black Memento ink on a scrap piece of Basic White card stock. I set them in place on the front of the card using Dimensionals and the card was done.

This was a fun card to make and I like how it turned out even though it wasn't the same as the original card.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's Easter card,

Wildflower Designs, Simply Said, Heart Shaped, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I am making a card using the "Perennial Lavender" Designer Series Paper (DSP) that I have a package and a half left! I must have had big projects for it when I ordered 2 packs! I am on a quest to use up as much of it as I can before it retires. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4' x 5-1/4" piece of Pretty Peacock card stock for the layer. On that piece I stamped the larger flower from the "Wildflower Designs" bundle using Pretty Peacock ink. I cut and stamped two. This is one of those two-fer cards. Once you cut the DSP you can use the other part to make another card.  Why not?

The DSP was cut at 3-3/4" x 5". I made a mark about 3" on the left and 2-1/4" on the right. I cut it from mark to mark. I taped it to the Pretty Peacock piece.

A 1/4" x 4-1/2" strip of Pretty Peacock was cut to lay across the area at the edge of the DSP. It gave it a nice border look.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set and were stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock using Pretty Peacock ink. You can use whatever words for whatever occasion you need as long as they fit inside that area, it's a very versatile layout. I cut them out using the largest die from the "Nested Essentials" set.

Now came the problem I encountered. What to put at the bottom of that die cut piece. First I stamped a small flower from the "Wildflower Designs" bundle. I used Pretty Peacock ink on Basic White card stock and I cut it out with the matching die. I didn't really like how blah it looked so I colored it using my Blending Pen and some Pretty Peacock ink. Well, that was even worse. Then I thought a die cut solid card stock flower would be cute. So I got out my "Heart Shaped" bundle and cut out the flower from it. I didn't like that either. And in that set was the branch piece you see on the card. I thought that looked the best so I went with it. I glued it in place. Dimensionals were added to the back and I set it in place on the front of the card after I taped the Pretty Peacock large layer down. Once the word piece was set in place I added a little "Brass Butterfly" to the piece and the card was done.

I took a pic of both cards. I like the one on the left better. The one on the right I had to trim a bit of the DSP because I wasn't careful with it and I messed up the edge. SO I trimmed it a bit and was still able to use it.

Even with the struggle of what to put on that open area, it was a fun card to make. I love the rich colors.

Simply Said, Wildflower Designs, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that you can whip up in no time at all. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Wild Wheat card stock. I had purchased the variety pack of the in colors back in 2023 and this is the last piece of Wild Wheat in that package. I usually buy the variety pack and then I pick a couple of colors I think I would get more use out of. Wild Wheat wasn't one of those and I'm glad because it took me all of this time to use up the few sheets you get in the package. My piece measures 4-1/4" x 11". The fold is on the top and it opens from the bottom.

I stamped the flower on the front using the image from the "Wildflower Designs" bundle. I used Wild Wheat ink to stamp that image all over the front of the card.

I wasn't going to make another card using the "Wildly Flowering" 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) but when I was putting it away this strip fell out. So I took that as a sign to use up my scraps.

I cut a 5-1/2" x 2-1/4" piece of Early Espresso card stock for the layer and my piece of DSP measured 5-1/4" x 2". I taped the two pieces together and then that was taped to the front of the card about 1/8" from the left edge.

The words are from the "Simply Said" set. They were stamped using Moody Mauve ink on a piece of Basic White card stock. I punched them out using the "Heartfelt Hexagon" punch. I also punched out an Early Espresso piece. I cut that piece in half and taped each half to the back of the word piece. Dimensionals were added to the back and it was set in place on the front of the card 1" from the bottom and 1/2" from the right edge. And that was it, the card was done.

Wasn't that quick and easy?  A great way to use up those strips of DSP.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Wildflower Designs, Simply Said, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. I still had my "Wildly Flowering" Designer Series Paper (DSP) still sitting on my worktable so I thought I'd make another card using it before I move on. I sure do have a lot of sheet of it left! I found this pretty card on Pinterest. What drew me to it was the 3 strips of DSP. There was something about those strips that made me want to give that layout a try. You can see the original card here. Please read on to see how I put it together.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. The original card used a half-sheet of Misty Moonlight. Since I still have a lot of Basic White card stock in the 40 sheet pack it's more economically feasible to make a white card base. Though I do prefer a white card base because it needs nothing taped to the inside when your done with the front.

I cut my Misty Moonlight piece at 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" and taped it to the front of the card. The next layer is a piece of the DSP and it measures 3" x 5". I taped that on top of the Misty Moonlight piece.

The strips were cut next. They are from the same package of DSP and were cut 1-1/4" x 3-3/4". You need three of these. Now mine are not cut from the same "frame". Mine were cut from a strip so the do not go together to form a full image. It's a good way to use scraps but it's also pretty when you cut the piece 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" and then cut the 1-1/4" strips. Those strips were added using Dimensionals.

A 1" x 4-1/2" piece of Misty Moonlight card stock was cut for the horizontal strip. That was taped in place. Be sure not to add tape the very ends.

The word piece was cut next. The die for this is in the "Wildflower Designs" bundle. I  cut it out of Basic White card stock.

I stamped the words from the "Simply Said" set using Misty Moonlight ink.  I stamped it to the right of the piece so I had room to add the leaves and flower buds. The Misty Moonlight leaves were punched out from the "Bough" punch. And a Crumb Cake piece was punched out of it as well. I glued those two pieces to the word piece. Dimensionals were added to the back of the word piece and it was centered on the card.

A bow was tied and glued on. It's from a retired organza spool. I like it because even though it goes over the words you can still read them.  I did not add any embellishments to the ends of the Misty Moonlight strip because I'm mailing it and I didn't want to pay the extra postage.

This was a fun card to make and, as I often do, I made a mock card using copier paper with all of the measurements written on it. I also write the date I posted the card using the layout so I can go back and look (just in case I don't understand what I'm looking at - it happens! LOL).

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Layering Leaves. Wildly Flowering, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a birthday card to share with you using the "Wildly Flowering" Designer Series Paper (DSP). I thought I'd use this DSP and the Wild Wheat card stock since it's all retiring soon. Out with the old in-colors and in with the new. And I have lots of card stock left so I'd better make a few cards using it to feel better about having so much left. Please read on to see how I made today's card.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

This card has several layers including one hidden one. The largest layer is a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Wild Wheat card stock. On top of that is a 3-3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White card stock. Then on top of that I had cut a 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" piece of Basic White (the hidden layer) that will be used to tape the DSP to.

The DSP was cut at 3-1/2" x 3" for the top piece and on the backside of the top piece is the tannish colored image. It measures 1-3/4" x 3-1/2". I taped these pieces to the hidden piece of card stock.

A 5" piece of ribbon was cut to go across where the two pieces of DSP meet. My ribbon is from a spool of retired Soft Suede. It compliments the colors on the card so I went with it. I have a lot of that to use up too. I taped the ends of the ribbon on the back of the Basic White piece and then taped that to the larger Basic White layer. That was taped to the Wild Wheat layer and then it was all taped to the front of the card base.

The words are from the "Layering Leaves" set. It's going to retire too. I really liked this set, it has a lot of great words all in one set. A stampers dream set.  I stamped the words using Misty Moonlight ink and then I punched then out using the "Heartfelt Hexagon" punch. I set the words in place using Dimensionals.

I had some retired "Genial Gems" that I added to the front of the card for a little bling.  And the card was done.

This was a very simple and quick card to make. I love the simple layout and could see myself using it to make cards using some of the other DSP I have in my stash.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,
Wanda

Wildflower Birthday, Nested Essentials, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a super quick and easy birthday card to share with you. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pool Party card stock for the layer.

The Designer Series Paper (DSP) was cut next, it's from the "Wildflower Birthday" 12" x 12" package and it measures 3-3/4" x 5". I taped that to the Pool Party piece and then that was taped to the card base.

Next I took a piece of Basic White card stock and using the rectangle dies from the "Nested Essentials" set I cut two pieces of the second largest size. One piece I textured using the "Star Struck" embossing folder and the other I stamped the words on. I do not know the set where these words came from. I had stamped them a while back for use at another time. I used Basic Gray ink to stamp them so it would go with anything I would find to put it with down the road. I should have written down the set. So if you know what set this came from, please let me know so I can include that info here.

Using Pool Party card stock I cut two of the largest Nested Essentials" rectangles. I taped the word piece to the Pool Party rectangle and I glued the textured piece to the other rectangle.

The cupcake and balloon is from the same "Wildflower Birthday" package. There's two sheets of precut images, they are hanging by a thin piece of card stock and just pop out. Dimensionals were added behind the cupcake and the balloon. The string of the balloon was tucked a bit behind the cupcake. Dimensionals were added to the back of that rectangle and it was set in place on the lower left of the card.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the word piece, being careful not to add any where it would overlap on the textured piece. Glue was added on the overlapped part and the piece was set in place on the front of the card. And that was it.

This was such a quick and simple card to make. I love using these pop outs, they are do cute and fun to work with.

Thank you SO much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday card,

Delightful Wishes, Floral Delight, Birthday Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I found myself with a few extra minutes to play along with a video. I found this card and thought I'd give it a try. You can see the original card here. I actually had all of the materials to make this card. Please read on to see how I put it together. I'll give you the condensed version as there's a lot of product talk on the video. I like to get right to the card. I'll also share a couple of tips with you too on this.

The base of the card is a folded half-sheet of Old Olive card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left.

A 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the "Floral Delight" 12" x 12" package was cut for the large layer. You will also need to cut a 4-1/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Old Olive for the layer and a 2-3/8" x 3-7/8" piece of Basic White that will go behind the folded DSP. The original instructions have you cut that piece ad 2-1/2" x 4" and then you can trim any excess if you don't get it on the piece straight. I avoided any trimming by cutting the piece smaller.

The folded piece of DSP was cut at 4" x 7" and scored at 1/2" and then 1" intervals. So you score at 1/2", 1-1/2", 2", 4", 3-1/2", 4-1/2" 5", 6" and 6-1/2". Then you fold them mountain/valley. Starting on the left side you fold mountain and the next score is valley and repeat across.  Do not use a bone folder to crease the edges.

The instructions have you added 3 Dimensionals in a row behind each half inch fold. There's Dimensionals behind the left piece too. They are visible if you look at the card from that side. You may want to refer to the video if my directions are not clear enough. There's a total of 18 Dimensionals on this piece. The instructions have you tape across the back of the piece with strong adhesive. I used Tear n Tape across mine. I had to leave it for a bit to take care of other household things and when I came back the tape wasn't holding. SO I opened up my Tombow mono glue and I glued it to the Old Olive piece. I'm thinking that had I affixed it to the Old Olive piece before I left it still would have come apart. There's a lot of energy there wanting to spread open and not be held closed. So glue worked best and it is holding. Once the piece was glued to the Old Olive piece I put it under a couple of stamp sets to hold it in place while the glue sets up. I left it there while I die cut the flowers and leaves.

The flowers and leaves are from the "Delightful Wishes" bundle. I cut them out using Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight, Pecan Pie, and Old Olive card stock. I glued the pieces together. In the video she states that the detailed part (Daffodil Delight) doesn't line up to anything on the flower and you have to move it around to see what looks best.  If you look at the detailed piece you will see that there is a pretty solid petal, on the Lemon Lolly piece there is a petal with the same ripply ends, they match up. I used a little glue to hold them together.  And on the smaller flower there is a petal on the Lemon Lolly piece that matches the detailed piece. If you look at the way I put it together you will see it. There's an area on the flower that looks like a petal is missing. The petal to the right of that is next to the petal that matches the open ovalish detailed piece. There's where you line that one up at. And if you look to the left of that opening, that detailed piece rides along the left side of that petal. It all fits together nicely.

Once the pieces were glued together I stamped the word, they are from the same bundle. I masked off the "you a" part and just stamped the happy birthday on a 3/8" strip of Basic White card stock using black Memento ink. I trimmed it to measure 2-1/2" long and I snipped the ends. It was put in place centering it on the pleated piece. I glued the left side and on the third pleat I added a small Dimensional. It's just behind the "BI".

The flowers were glued in place. I used a little more glue than normal, I wanted it to stick. I also added a Dimensional under the flower on the second pleat for the bottom flower and on the last pleat for the smaller flower. I added some glue to the leaves and slipped them under the flowers. And that was it. I thought it was fun to learn a new technique but I doubt I'll ever make another one, it's not really my style.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's birthday car,

Simply Zinnia, Simply Said, Thank You Card, Stampin' Up!

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I have a fun thank you card to share with you. Though it can be used for a number of other occasions as well. Please read on to see how it was made.

The base of my card is a folded half-sheet of Basic White card stock. It opens on the right and the fold is on the left. I cut a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Basic White for the top layer and a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Basic White for the back of that top layer.

Next I cut 1/4" strips of card stock at least 5-1/2" long. You want them long so you don't have an issue with white showing on the ends. For my card I used Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Peach Pie, and Petal Pink. I taped them in place on the right side of the card stock. I made sure they butted up against each other so there were no gaps between them.

Now came the tricky part. Using the 3rd die in the "Nested Essentials" set I cut out the piece. I had to make sure I lined it up so it was equal on each side or the Petal Pink lined on the cut out piece wouldn't line up with the Petal Pink piece on the right side of the piece. I lucked out here. I had made a second one at the same time and I messed it up. It would be easier with something that had corners to line up, like a hexagon or a square. But I chose this shape for some odd reason! Anyway, once it was cut out I taped the 4" x 5-1/4" piece to the 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece. Then I taped the cut out piece back in the opening but I turned it around. This is where you can see that the Petal Pink lines up.

The words were next. I stamped them from the "Simply Said" set using black Memento ink.

Then the flower was made. It's from the "Simply Zinnia" bundle. I cut out two petal pieces using Cajun Craze card stock. The center was cut from a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock and the top layer on the flower was cut from Peach Pie card stock.  I cut a Mossy Meadow leaf. I glued the flower pieces together and set them aside.

Dimensionals were added to the back of the 4" x 5-1/4" piece and it was set in place on the card base.

Then the flower was added and a little glue was added to the end of the leaf and it was tucked in under the flower.

I took some retired "Polished Dots" and colored them using my dark Cajun Craze Blends pen. I set them in place on the white part of the cut piece and the card was done.

I'm not thrilled with that wide open space on the left side. I think maybe I should have added the flower stem there, it looks like it needs something.

This was a fun card to make and should I make another one I think I will use something with corners that I can line up to make doing that cut out piece easier.

Thank you SO very much for taking your time to stop in and see today's thank you card,
